- December 17 - Premier Parks announces to enter the European theme park market by purchasing the Walibi Group, with the deal set to close in 1998. The purchase would include Walibi Wavre and Bellewaerde Park in Belgium, Walibi Flevo in Holland, and Walibi Aquitaine, Walibi Schtroumpf, and Walibi Rhône-Alpes in France.
