The Forgotten Sea is a wave pool next to Black Snake Summit at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles.

Description

There is no height requirement, though young guests under 48 inches tall must have a life vest and be accompanied by an adult. The pool contains about 480,000 gallons and regularly cycles through periods of still water, followed by a 6-minute period of artificially-generated two-foot waves; guests are notified of the latter through an audible alarm. Guests are allowed to bring tubes from Captain Bouy's Raft Rentals into this attraction.

A large jumbotron screen often shows Looney Tunes cartoons during peak daytime attendance. On Friday evenings, "Dive-in Movies" are shown.[1]

History

The theming around the wave pool was designed by Kevin Barbee Experience Design (KBXD).[2] This attraction was initially marketed as the Lost Sea in television commercials in spring 1995.[3] However, it opened with the water park on June 16, 1995 as the "Forgotten Sea".[4] The southern corner of the Forgotten Sea used to feature a small wading pool that was filled in and paved over in the 2010s.[5]
