Charles "Hank" Salemi (May 10, 1964 - January 9, 2022)[2] was the Park President of Six Flags Great America. He held this position from February 2006 until his death in 2022, when he succeeded former park president Ronald Sevart. Following his death, he was succeeded by John Krajnak.

Biography

Education and career

Salemi had a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The University of Alabama.

Before working at Six Flags, Salemi worked as a Regional Marketing Director/Promoter at Feld Entertainment from 1990 until 1995. Additionally, he worked at Ogden Corporation as Direct of Marketing and Entertainment from 1992 until 1997. [3]

In 1997, he worked in marketing for Six Flags Great America. From 2000 until 2001, Salemi worked as Regional Vice President of Marketing for Six Flags Theme Parks, then worked as Senior Vice President of Marketing. In 2006, he became park president for Six Flags Great America, and later in 2021, the adjacent Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Chicago. [3]

Death

In 2022, Salemi died suddenly on January 9, 2022. Hal McEvoy, president and CEO of IAPPA, wrote an article about Salemi the day after his death and his impact on IAPPA and the industry. [2] Jeffrey Siebert, Park President of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, changed his profile picture on Instagram to the Columbia Carousel to remember Salemi. [4] Six Flags Great America posted a tribute to Salemi on their social media accounts.[5]
