Magic Flyer was a steel kiddie coaster located in Whistlestop Park at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
History
According to a maintenance worker, this Bradley & Kaye coaster came from Beverly Park, where Dave Bradley had installed it as the first "Little Dipper" model in 1947. In 1970, it was moved to Valencia, California, where Magic Mountain was being built.
The coaster opened for operation on May 29, 1971, along with Gold Rusher with the grand opening of the park. The ride was originally known as "Clown Coaster" at the time. In 1985, it was given the name "Wile E. Coyote Coaster" until 1998, when the coaster was temporarily taken out of service.[1]
On March 31, 2001, the ride was re-opened as "Goliath Jr." to associate it with the park's new hyper coaster following a complete rebuild of the ride's support structure. The cars and tracks were re-themed in orange and teal to match the look of the larger coaster. In 2008, it was renamed to "Percy The Roller Coaster" (also referred to as "Percy's Railway") with Percy as the lead car and his Troublesome Trucks as bonus cars. When the park re-themed that section of the park in 2011 as Whistlestop Park, it was renamed to "Magic Flyer".[1][2]
In December 2025, Six Flags Magic Mountain filed a demolition permit for the removal of the coaster.[3] Due to inclement weather, Magic Flyer's last day of operation was delayed from January 5, 2026 to the 11th. It was removed along with Tweety's Escape on the following day.[4][5] Construction of Taz's Exploration Trail immediately began on the site and soft-opened on April 24, 2026.[6]
