The Waterfront was an outdoor food court located at the Monterey Landing area (later The Movie District) in Six Flags Magic Mountain.[1]
History
The collection of buildings were originally known as Pier 4 with the opening of the Magic Mountain park on May 29, 1971. It was surrounded by a water feature known as "The Lagoon". The buildings were later referred to as the "Wharf Area". With the adaptation of the water feature into the Aqua Theatre, the fast food restaurants became known as "The Waterfront" within the Monterey Landing area. In 1995, the Aqua Theatre was replaced by the Batman Action Theater and the area was re-themed as The Movie District in 1998. The Waterfront then also became referred to as "The Waterfront Commissary", even though it was no longer bordered by water. In 2011, Primo’s Pizzeria was added to the commissary with Famous Famiglia as its official supplier.[2]
The Monterey Landing area was closed in 2016 to make way for the Metropolis area, which opened in July 2017. The Waterfront Commissary was re-themed with fictional DC Comics restaurant names, such as Munchopolis Snacks, Big Belly Burger, and Carlini's Pizzeria. This food court thereafter became known as Metro Park.[3]
